New Breed On The Farm
Jill Rees / Greenfire farms line
Jill Rees placed 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the UK with her Cream legbars. Jill also won best overall in the auto sexing category. This means Jill has the first Cream Legbar to secure a spot on championship row at the PCGB National show. We're happy to say we have the Jill Rees line!
Spring 2017 we'll be introducing a new breed to our customers, one I'm sure you'll enjoy just as much as we have. This remarkable bird has all the attributes most poultry enthusiast are looking for.
Cream Legbar are a medium sized bird, good foragers, sweet temperament and great producers of beautiful pastel sky blue to light green eggs. They produce large numbers of eggs and are rarely broody. The hens produce a rather large egg for the size of bird. In 1952 a study was conducted in England with seven Cream Legbar hens for one year, on average they each laid 260 eggs.
Cream Legbars are an auto sexing breed which we find so appealing as I'm sure our customers will also enjoy. It's very difficult to find a bird that produces a pastel colored egg that can also be easily sexed.
We personally picked up our breeding stock from Greenfire Farms spring 2016. Check out our blog for a glimps into their farm.
