Who doesn't love a Silkie? Well I wasn't sure that I would until I gave them a try. My first thought was that this fluffy puff ball will never survive on our sloppy muddy farm. You've got to be one tough bird to live in our Southern IL stifling hot summers and frigid windy winters. Well these tough puffs have taught me a thing or two about Silkies. They can with stand our terrible wet winters and steamy hot summers and take them with good stride. They are tough little birds, so don't count them out, give-um a try.
I have two different lines of Silkes this line is crested and not bearded. I find that they can see better without so much fluff around the head area, you can't sneak up on them as easily as the Crested Bearded line of Silkies. But I must say I like them both.
At this time the colors that I have are white, black, buff, blue and splash. I'm not sure if I will have room to keep all of the colors separate, we're still figuring that out.
One good thing about Silkies is that they're small and they don't require a lot space, they do well in small areas. Second good thing, they lay lots of eggs. Third really good thing, they make great incubators!!
When ordering Silkie chicks you will get a mix of colors.
With this particular line you can see their amazing blue ears really well! I love those ears!
