The Welsummer chicken is a breed from Welsum Holland, they lay a large, dark, terracotta-brown egg with lots of spots and dots. Welsummers are a very calm, friendly bird and a favorite on the farm. This is the chicken that played the Corn Flakes rooster "Cornelius". Welsummer eggs are very pretty with spots and dots. A hen will lay the same egg pattern throughout her life so you can select for more or less spots, large or small spots by hatching the eggs you like best. The Welsummer hens are a very beautiful shimmery golden color, very striking in the sunlight. Our breeds did not come from a large hatchery but only from the best line of Welsummers around. You cannot get a dark spotted egg from a large hatchery. I know this information form speaking with our customers. It pays to have an open line of Commnication with your customers! We are now offering the Welsummers as sexed chicks, so that you can order hen chicks or cockerel chicks. Keep in mind that sexing day old chicks is NOT 100% accurate and mistakes can be made but we will do our absolute best for our customers.
Pullets and roosters are shipped out around 5 to 6 weeks of age. We can fit 3 pullets in a box during the summer, however you can order as few as 1. Keep in mind that the hatching and growing process takes time, so please be patient while we do our work and remember we're working with animals. We ship in order of payment received. We text the day the pullets ship out and we can work around your blackout dates.
Included in the shipping cost is a box required by the Post Office along with the express mail fee.
Policy for mistakes on sexing pullets: Send a photo of questionable bird, if we have made a mistake we will refund for the cost of the bird. We hate to make mistakes, but it can and does happen. Mother nature sometimes hides her secrets very well.
