The Coronation Sussex is a very rare and beautiful bird that originated in England where it was created for King George. Although the Coronation Sussex is rare in the US it is even more rare in England where only 50 birds of this variety remain. The Coronation Sussex has a lilac mane, bright white body, and lilac tail. They are also a very large bird so you will need to provide a low roosting area. Coronation Sussex are a good cold climate bird, they lay best during cool weather and will not lay much during hot temps. One very interesting thing about the feathering of the Coronation Sussex is that they're built for cold weather in that they have down like a goose. Thier ability to go fast and the size of this bird make the Coronation the best meat bird we have on the farm. The fact that they were created for the Kings table makes them also suitable for mine. The Coronation Sussex is gentle, calm, curious, kid friendly birds and make great backyard pets.

We obtained our breeding stock from the first imports into the US back around 2008 and have kept our line pure. This is truly an impressive, rare, Heritage breed worthy of our stewardship.
