Accepting Pre Orders For chicks and young pullets for spring 2025

| /

The Malines were created in Belgium back in the 1800's as a meat bird. This is a very heavy breed; roosters can weigh over 12 lbs. We have a couple that are topping the scales at 14 lbs. There are many color varieties of the Maline, but the black herringbone pattern is the most common. The black and white pattern goes from the top of their head to the tip of their toes. Absolutely stunning!

The hens are also a very heavy bird but super friendly and gentle, they lay a cream-colored egg that is large.

The Malines is somewhat of an auto sexing bird, but the visual clues are not easily recognized at hatch but days or a week after hatch the clues are noticeable. We will only sell the day-old chicks as straight run.

If you're looking for a beautiful, sweet tempered, easy to handle, physically impressive bird for your backyard flock, the Malines should be at the top of your list.

We traveled to Greenfire Farms in the spring of 2016 to pick up our breeder flock and also took a farm tour. (They no longer give tours) During our tour as we walked past the Malines pen, I was so impressed with the way their little faces were pressed up against the fence just waiting for us to visit them, I knew instantly that I had to have this bird. The hens beg for your attention, I love it. Malines are sold straight run.

We fill orders in order of payment received.

Pullets are shipped out around 6 weeks of age. Keep in mind that the hatching and growing process takes time, so please be patient while we do our work and remember we're working with animals. We ship in order of payment received. We text the day the pullets ship out and we can work around your blackout dates.

Policy for mistakes on sexing pullets:  Send a photo of questionable bird, if we have made a mistake we will refund for the cost of the bird.  We hate to make mistakes, but it can and does happen.  Mother nature sometimes hides her secrets very well.

Included in the shipping cost is a box required by the Post Office along with the express mail fee.

Please choose Hen (Female) or Rooster (Male)
